Today we'll visit Carcassonne - La Cité Médiévale.
It is a fortified town founded in the 5th century and restored in 1853. It is in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
Maybe because this is a restored site we (I traveled with my friend and her children) didn't feel the atmosphere of ancient times..with the exception of the first view of the city on the hill. Later, on our way back to Bordeaux we saw (by chance) another Middle Age city which impressed us much more although it was not as majestic as Carcassonne. The photos will follow in the next post.
