Here come my three days in Switzerland. I went there from France to visit my friend. First time I was there more than 10 years ago. This time my 'come back' included Geneva (where I lived) and some little towns along the Lake Leman (Lake Geneva). In this post we'll see St-Maurice, a small (I counted several streets) town hidden between mountains. Very beautiful. Well, in Swiss everything is beautiful or very beautiful-)) We'll also climb the mountain to see Dufour fortification.
In Geneva, very early in the morning I took the train....
1.
and 1.5 later I got off in St-Maurice. The train goes along the lake Leman and the early morning views of the lake were fantastic
2.
Trains in Switzerland are worth a separate post. This is the only country which has a wide variety of trains, especially touristic ones.
3.
This building in the rock...I didn't understand how to get there and why did they build it...I left this question open as a reason to come back one day and to solve the puzzle -))
4.
Fortification Dufour is about 20 min walking distance from St-Maurice. So I started my way.

12.
This road leads to the fortification. The rock is high and it is like an entrance to the town.
13.
This bridge is so weird and absolutely doesn't fit the scenery...
14.
To get to the tour I had to climb a mountain..well sounds rather dramatic-))
15.
16.
17.
Awesome view from the hill
18.
See the bridge, it looks like an alien object
19.
Peaceful unknown town
20.
On the top of the mountaindeadly tired me I had my lunch and then went down the hill to see the canons
21.
22.
Here is the fortification
23.
and I came down from that top
24.
This is a naturally narrow part and the Swiss army could control possible invasion
25.
26.
All canons are faced this narrow passage between the mountain and Rhona river
27.
28.
- Finally we threw him down!
- Do you think he's dead?
29.
30.
The waters of Rhona are milky white because of the dissolved white clay
31.
32.
33.
So now I'm coming back to the town.
34.
St-Maurice is tiny and nice.
35.
St-Maurice Abbey however is very famous
36.
37.
Source of eau potable
38.
39.
The Swiss light at the end of the Swiss tunnel...
40.
41.
42.
Good-bye place of orange houses!
43.
